After about a year of working from home, most people have become super attached to their computers. If you’re working off of a laptop, you’ve definitely used your lap as a table before. It is a lap-top, after all. But according to Vest Tech, your lap may not be the healthiest place for your computer to go. The anti-radiation company claims that by placing your laptop in your lap, you’re exposing yourself to harmful electromagnetic frequency radiation.

While Vest Tech warns that using your laptop in your lap could lead to pregnancy issues or cancer, The Verge spoke with some fertility doctors to see if any of that was true. While most doctors agree that women are in the clear for using their laptops in their laps, men could still have issues with fertility due to the laptop’s extreme heat. However, it’s very unlikely for your laptop to get so hot that it would cause any real problems, but you should still be cautious. According to Thrillist, too much heat near a man’s privates can decrease sperm count.
