Here’s why Meghan McCain thinks young GOP leaders are failing

During the segment in question on “The View,” Meghan McCain recalled doing a photoshoot with Representative Elise Stefanik for Elle Magazine’s “30 Women at 30,” and she was impressed with Stefanik at the time. However, because the representative has been “doubling, tripling, quadrupling down at the altar of Trumpism,” McCain expressed her disappointment. She noted that the GOP is losing the millennial generation, and she accused Stefanik of not caring about anything other than power.
“I think that’s what’s most disappointing to me in all of this, is that my generation of leadership is also failing us,” she said. “If you just look at numbers and stats, we are bleeding millennials. It’s a joke. So the idea that a millennial woman would know that and then still continue to double down in this way, I don’t understand it.” McCain went on to say that Stefanik was clearly motivated by power, and that she doubted the representative’s intentions. “I don’t believe that she actually believes what she’s saying. I think she’s just doing it for power, and that is, for me, the saddest moment of this morning,” McCain said. Viewers responded to the tweet of McCain’s segment on “The View’s” official Twitter account. Several agreed with McCain about the irony of Liz Cheney’s voting record falling more in line with the former president’s, where Stefanik’s record is less conservative. Others called out the co-host for continuing to support the Republican party.
